From its beginnings in 1931, Midwest Walnut has been a continuously growing company. Dedicated to providing the finest in North American hardwoods.
Originally a small lumber processing plant in Council Bluffs, Iowa in the heartland of the United States the company has since expanded across the Midwest. This growth has allowed us to continually meet the ever-growing industrial demands for fine, high quality hardwood products. This includes everything from logs to lumber, furniture squares, dimension, high-end gunstock material and more.
As the United States entered into World War II, Midwest Walnut was called upon to supply gunstock blanks for the Springfield Armory, makers of the legendary Springfield Rifle.
In 1942, growing demands brought about the construction of a new plant in Willow Springs, Missouri.
The late 1960s brought on the beginning of an exportation process that has made Midwest Walnut one of the most productive and important suppliers of walnut logs and lumber to countries around the world. The global demand for our hardwoods continues to increase annually, and we pride ourselves on our constant ability to meet each and every challenge successfully.
The Tradition Continues
With over seventy years of proven excellence, Midwest Walnut produces millions of board feet of walnut and other fine hardwoods annually. We have a long-established transportation network in place for the direct delivery of materials to our mills from concentrated areas throughout the entire Midwest.
The home office in Council Bluffs, Iowa, manufactures hardwood lumber in its state-of-the-art band mill, and currently has a dry kiln capacity of more than 500,000 board feet.
The Willow Springs, Missouri facility has similar production capabilities and boasts an additional 800,000 board feet of dry kiln capacity.
